CASA celebrated our amazing Advocates with an appreciation luncheon and training sessions on Thursday November 3, 2022. This was CASA’s way of recognizing our volunteers with their achievements this past year, and to say thank you for your advocacy. It was an informative training session with Texas CASA Audrey Sherman explaining the CFE requirements for this coming year, Melissa Ward, CASA VOC chatted about the roles and responsibilities of Advocates. Then a round table panel discussion with Byron Smith and Morgan Akinwale PALS Coordinators for Bell & Coryell Counties, Holly Doggett with Cedar Crest Hospital, Kacie Biebas, Attorney Ad Litem Bell County, Fred Morse CASA Advocate. The PALS program was explained, and questions were given to the panel, who in turned answered. A tasty box lunch donated by Bell County Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Chapter and served by member Becky Montgomery. The keynote speaker, Judge Charles Van Orden gave an emotional talk about the importance of advocacy and how it changes lives of children in the foster care system. Then the awards presentation began with service certificates, plaques and special honorees.
