The new year is off to a great start and CASA is enjoying success in a number of ways. The first class of new advocates in training started on January 23rd with 16 new volunteers. We continue to be one of the fastest growing agencies in Texas thanks to the hard work of Melissa Ward and her talent at identifying qualified candidates and bringing them in.
We also got great news from the E. R. Carpenter Foundation in early January that they were providing our CASA office with a $25,000 grant to support and sustain our growth. The Carpenter Foundation truly believes in our mission to serve as many children as possible in Bell and Coryell Counties. Their support has been a major factor in the sustained growth we have enjoyed in 2023.
Finally – we must say THANK YOU once again to everyone who helped us provide Christmas for more than 200 children. The generosity shown by so many individuals, churches, civic clubs, companies, and schools was heartwarming. Every single CASA kid was sponsored and we even provided gifts to sibling children in foster homes and kids placed with relatives so that all children could experience Christmas together. Our CASA kids are so fortunate to experience the love and support from our staff, our wonderful advocates, and our community. We could not make it happen without your help.
Up next is our world-famous CASA St. Patrick’s 5k Race and Shenanigan’s Fun Run on Saturday, March 2nd. You can enter now by going to www.casabellcoryel.org and use the online entry form. It’s only $25 again this year and that includes our one-of-a-kind race day t-shirt for all participants. If you would like to be a race sponsor, contact our office at 254-774-1881 or email us at casa@casabellcoryell.org. And if you would like to volunteer on race day to help us out – contact Erin Hammond at erin.hammond@casabellcoryell.org.
We are excited about 2024 and look forward to a great year advocating for the abused and neglected children that we serve. Join us at an event or online to learn more about how YOU can make a difference in the life of a child. CASA is the premier volunteer organization in Central Texas.
