October brings the season of change for CASA in many ways. It also kicks off what is unquestionably the busiest time of the year for CASA. October ushers in the time for giving Thanks in November and then the gift giving fun of Christmas in December. And believe it or not, we are already well into our Christmas planning for this coming holiday season.
My note this month is brief and I only wish to ask each of you to consider supporting our efforts to make this time of year special for others. I’ve listed our key events below and ways that you can make any or all of them successful as our only goal for each event is to generate resources and build awareness to help serve our CASA kids and give them the voice they deserve. Please join us at any of the events or assist with the projects to help make this fall better than ever for the kids we advocate for.
CASA in the Country – Saturday, October 28th at The Ferris Wheel in Killeen.
- Join us for this country style gala that includes dinner, drinks, live music, live and silent auctions, and local dignitaries sharing their reasons to support CASA.

CASA Christmas Gift Campaign – October 23rd– November 30th.

- Adopt a CASA kid (or sibling group) and make their Christmas wishes come true. You can also donate items such as baby/toddler clothes and diapers, or gift cards to major retailers for the teenagers we serve. Contact the CASA office to find out more about adopting a CASA kid for Christmas. We will soon have a sign-up roster online for all CASA kids with their age, sex, and wish list and you can register there to select the kid(s) you wish to shop for.o You can also donate Christmas gift items for kids in general. We are always grateful for donations from local companies and individuals to solicit gifts for our CASA kids.o We also need help once the gifts come in with wrapping and delivering gifts to the children. If you are willing to spend time at the CASA office wrapping gifts or assisting with delivery, pleas let us know.
Giving Tuesday – held on Tuesday, November 28th
- This is a nationwide day set aside to make special contributions to your favorite organizations. More info is coming soon along with a QR code to make giving to CASA super simple and easy to find.
End of Year Giving Campaign
- Many of our supporters still like to make year end gifts for tax purposes. We will be sending out end of year donation information in early December for those wishing to give to CASA before December 31st. We now have the ability to accept gifts of company stocks, bonds, real estate, and other assets that are transferrable and able to be liquidated into cash.
